Two-factor authentication (2FA)
An extra login verification step that protects an account beyond the password.
Two-factor authentication adds a second verification step after the password, such as an authenticator code, security key, or device approval. It reduces account-takeover risk when passwords are exposed, but requires recovery codes and careful device management. In multi-account environments, 2FA supports safer access delegation and auditing.
